Car Theft

While reading about the rampant carjacking & auto theft taking place across the causeway recently, out of curiosity I decided to find out how some other places perform in terms of such inconvenient & costly crime.

USA
One motor vehicle stolen every 26.4 seconds in 2006.
Quebec (Canada)
In 2006, more than 38,800 vehicles reported stolen (which is 1 vehicle every 14 minutes).
New Zealand
Over 36,000 cars stolen last year (one car every 15 minutes).
Australia
75,115 MVT (motor vehicle theft) reported stolen in 2006 (on average, 1 vehicle every 7 minutes).
Singapore
One car goes missing every 5 days. 543 vehicles (including commercial vehicles & motorcycles) stolen in the first 6 months of 2007.
